Marilyn Wever

Marilyn Doosing Wever, 88, a former resident of Utica, MO, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Morningside Center Nursing Home, Chillicothe, MO where she has resided since 2016.

She was born on October 13, 1931, in Weston, MO, the daughter of Buel William “Buster” Doosing and Virginia Riley Doosing Standley.

Marilyn graduated from Mooresville High School in May of 1949.  She furthered her education by attending the Saint Luke’s School of Nursing, in Kansas City, MO, graduating in the spring of 1952.

Marilyn and Everett Eugene “Gene” Wever were united in marriage on November 6, 1952, in Chillicothe, MO at the First Baptist Church.  He preceded her in death on January 26, 2007.

The delight of Marilyn’s nursing career, was the years she worked as an OB nurse and assisted in the delivery of many babies at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, MO.  For a change of scenery, Marilyn became a traveling nurse and traveled to Chinle, Arizona to work on a Navajo Indian Reservation.   This five month assignment had her working at the hospital, assisting with the delivery of babies.

Marilyn was a member of the Utica Baptist Church in Utica, MO.  She served on the church board as the secretary and treasurer.  Her love for Jesus shown through the many years she served as a Sunday school teacher.  Marilyn worked as the camp nurse at Grand Oaks Baptist Assembly church camp.

Survivors include her four sons, Greg and wife Patricia Wever of Dawn, MO

Kelly and wife Theresa Wever of Utica, MO

Tracy and wife Brenda Wever of Mooresville, MO

Darren and wife Robyn Wever of Springfield, MO

Twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren,

One sister, Joyce Elaine, “Aunt Jo” Thomas of Flaqstaff, AZ. And many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, William “Bill” Doosing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Utica Baptist Church, Utica, MO.

Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.
