Donal James Worthington, 83, of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at Wright Memorial Hospital. Don fought a hard battle with Covid19 for two weeks. Please wear your masks and help keep the ones you love safe.

Don was born February 27, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents Clifford Esper and Rose Mae (Carter) Worthington. Don graduated from Tri-County High School in Jamesport, Missouri. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Nell McNew at the Jamesport United Methodist Church on May 20, 1956. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1956-1960.

Don was a career Prudential Insurance Agent who, after retirement, worked in the summers for the Chillicothe Parks and Recreation Department. He served two terms as President of the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce, was a Master Mason with the Blue Lodge and a past Worshipful Master.   Don volunteered with the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church. He loved to deer hunt, play cards, dance, play tennis and work on old clocks. He also enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri and Marco Island, Florida. Most of all Don was a family man and loved every minute he was able to spend with them.

Don is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home: son, Duke Worthington of Chillicothe; daughters, Teresa Walker of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Julie Sprong of Chillicothe. He has seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He's also survived by a sister: Marilyn Pryor and husband Ray of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Beverly Johnston of Raytown, Missouri and sister-in-law Valerie Worthington of Harker Heights, Texas along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Rose Worthington and a brother, Gene Worthington.

A memorial service will be held at a later date due to Covid19 and the safety of the loved ones and friends.

Memorials in honor of Don may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
