William "Billy" Cooper

William  “Billy” Ray Cooper, 86, of Chillicothe MO passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Indian Hills a Stonebridge Community in Chillicothe.
Billy Ray Cooper was born March 29, 1929 in rural Livingston County near Sampsel MO, the son of James Aaron Cooper and Maude Harriett Bills Cooper.
He was a member of the National Guard attaining the rank of Sargent and served 8 years during WWII, until 1949.
On September 23, 1948 Billy Ray married Clara Mae Zullig at the Lock Springs Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on November 7, 2006.
He and Clara Mae were lifelong farmers in the Chillicothe area, and they were both members of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church.
Billy Ray served on the MFA Oil Board and MFA Exchange, but the time spent with his family was the most enjoyable moments of his life.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Cooper and wife Sheila, and Darrell Cooper and wife Brenda both of Chillicothe; grandchildren Brian Cooper and wife Natasha of Lawrence KS and Jeremy Cooper of New York, NY; great grandchildren, Katerina and Ariana; sister, Donna Lou Slater, of Trenton.
Memorials in honor of Billy Ray Cooper may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home 3141 N. Washington Chillicothe, MO 64601.  On line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chillicothe MO.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. (1 hour prior to the service) Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
