Tama Barnes

Tama Lee Barnes, 53, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at her home, under the care of her family and St. Luke’s Hospice.
Tama was born October 23, 1962 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of Richard “Dickie” Henry Barnes and Joyce Ann Fenwick Barnes. She attended St. Joseph schools.
Tama worked for the Stetson Hat Company in St. Joseph for 22 years and she made to only beaver hats that Stetson created. She also made a cowboy hat for George Strait. After that she became a truck driver for Swift and traveled over the United States.
She liked monster trucks and it took her 3 years to build her hot rod. She liked going to Sturgis on her motorcycle and enjoyed seeing the nature with which the good Lord blessed us.
Tama was a tender hearted lady and helped with wild horse rescues and breaking them in to ride. She had a horse named TC, which she bought before it was born. She nicknamed him “Houdini” and they spent many hours together. He lived to the age of 33 and passed away just two days before Tama.
She is survived by her son RJ Allan Cox of Chillicothe and his fiancé Jessica Elaine Hursman of Jamesport, MO; her companion Rick Allan Cox of Chillicothe; brother, Michael S. Barnes of St. Joseph; two half-sisters, Shana Crets of Savannah, MO and Stacey Swinney of St. Joseph; step-brother, Greg Edwards of St. Joseph; nephew, Isaac Michael Barnes; and special friends Rhonda Barton and Rebecca White.
Tama was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Memorials in honor of Tama may be made to Heritage Funeral Home to help her family with funeral expenses, and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe Mo 64601. Online condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com .
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service (2:00 p.m.) on Thursday.
There will be a cremation after the service and burial will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
