Shirley Jean Cook, 66, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 under the care of her family.
Shirley Jean was born January 17, 1950 in Braymer MO, the daughter of Harold Denham and Mina Evans Denham. She was a 1968 graduate of Southwest R1 High School and attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, MO.
She worked at Southwestern Bell as an operator for 19 years and at Lowe’s for 5 years.
Shirley was a member of the Girls Scouts of America for 13 years, the Blue Mound Township Collector for about 4 years, and was a volunteer at Southwest R1.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Cook of Chillicothe and Julia Cook of Oklahoma City OK; a granddaughter, Sterling Richey of Chillicothe; 2 sisters, Carolyn Huff of Owatonna, MN and Phyllis Cooke of Overland Park, KS; 5 brothers, Bill Denham of Springfield MO, Jim Denham of Raytown MO, John Denham of Blue Springs MO, Kenneth Denham of Trenton MO and David Denham of Dawn MO; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ron Denham; and sister, Kathryn DuBois.
Memorials in honor of Shirley Cook may be made to the Dawn Community Improvement Association (DCIA) and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe MO 64601. On line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
Burial will be at Enon Cemetery, Dawn MO.
A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on January 7th.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
