Sandra Kay Hatfield

August 12, 1943 — August 9, 2025

Chillicothe

Sandra “Sandy” Wade Hatfield was born on August 12, 1943, in Cameron, Missouri, the daughter of Gerald and Vena (Custer) Wade. The young family later moved to Browning, Missouri, where they opened the Wade Funeral Home.

Sandy graduated from Liberty High School in 1960 and went on to work in Kansas City and Browning before beginning her long career with the U.S. Post Office. Over the course of more than 45 years of service, her dedication and work ethic led to her appointments as Postmaster in both Chula and Laclede, and she was honored as Postmaster of the Year for the State of Missouri.

A devout Christian, Sandy faithfully served the Lord in many ways. Known as “the nice one” in the family, she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a member of Cornerstone Church and a devoted member of Birthright, where she served as treasurer for many years.

If you ever met Sandy, you quickly discovered she was an avid fan of basketball and football. She passionately followed Mizzou football and basketball, as well as the Kansas City Chiefs — cheering, coaching, and even “refereeing” from the comfort of her favorite chair.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Glenda (Joe) Knebel; grandchildren, Jeremy Gooch, Kelsey Redden, Austin Knebel, and Jordan Knebel; and great-grandchildren, Rylee Gooch, Caleb Gooch, and Josh Gooch. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Kris Trammel, Terry Hatfield, Marcie Ireland, Connie Baughn, and Jo Owen; her sister, Mary Jane (Greg) Pohlmann; nephews, Chad Pohlmann and Ryan Pohlmann; as well as many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Hatfield, and her daughters, Christina Redden and Stacy Hoselton.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Special Olympics of Missouri or Birthright of Chillicothe, in lieu of flowers.

A Funeral Service will be held for Sandra Hatfield at Cornerstone Church on August 16th, 2025 starting at 2:00pm. A Visitation will be held an hour before starting at 1:00pm. Services will conclude with an internment at Edgewood Cemetery.
