Russell Eugene Treon, 88, of Delmar, Delaware, formerly of Chillicothe, MO died May 8, 2012 at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Delaware.
Russell was born May16, 1923 in Princeton, MO the son of Arthur Samuel Treon and Mary Zullig Treon.
On March 23, 1963 Russell married Marguerite Ann Ferguson in Elkton, Maryland. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2011.
Russell was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II, from Feb. 1941 thru Sept. 1945. He attained the rank of Boatswain Mate Second Class and was on the USS Arkansas and USS YMS27 which was a mine sweeper. He was stationed in Algeria, Abatu and Lido Beach.
He was a farmer in the Chillicothe area and was also a carpenter for many years.
Russell enjoyed woodworking and was a great fan of watching wrestling on TV with his wife.
He is survived by two daughters, Sondra Cox and Dorothy Jean Carmen of Villas, New Jersey; four sons, James Treon, Robert Treon and Gary Treon of Delaware and Arthur Treon of West Cape May, New Jersey; two step sons, James O’Brien of St. Joseph, MO and John O’Brien of Olathe, KS; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Betty Jean Thompson of Breckenridge, MO; nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, John Pelly of Chillicothe.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marguerite and a daughter, Barbara Edith Treon; and dear friend Bonnie Pelly.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge, MO.
There is no visitation.
