Randall “Randy” Jacobs, 67, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the family farm in Chula, Missouri. He was born on May 12, 1958 to Deane and Rita (Sowder) Jacobs.
Randy attended Meadville High School, where he graduated in 1976. He went on to attend Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri, graduating in three years with a bachelor of science in Criminal Justice and minor in psychology.
Following college, Randy began his law enforcement career with the Chillicothe Police Department before moving to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, where he served until 1983. During this time, he met Trudy Curley. The two were married in March of 1983 and shared many years together before their chapter ended in 1997.
In 1983, Randy joined the Kansas City Police Department. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1990 and later to Captain in 2007. He worked in the traffic unit, Metro, K-9/ helicopter unit, North Patrol, Shoal Creek and East Patrol during his three decades of dedicated service, Randy retired from the KCPD in May of 2016.
Randy loved his family deeply. He enjoyed spending time with friends, sharing a beer, riding his motorcycle, and helping his dad work on the family farm. Those moments brought him joy and reflected the steady, grounded way he lived his life.
Randy is survived by his sister, Debra Jacobs (Kathy) of Niceville, FL; his sons, Brandon Lantz (Andrea) and Nick Jacobs, of Kansas City; and his five granddaughters: Madison, Adrianna, Mia, Amelia, and Sophia. As well as many beloved cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Deane Jacobs, and his mother, Rita Jacobs, both within the past 22 months.
Visitation for Randy will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, December 18th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the same venue. Attire is casual for both days.
Randy will be laid to rest at Rickett Cemetery in Chula, Mo. alongside his parents.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to the Rickett Cemetery.
