Peggy Shockey

Peggy Joan Shockey, 79, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at The Baptist Home in Chillicothe.
Joan Shockey was born in rural Grundy County near Trenton, MO and was the daughter of Floyd Foster and Florence Flentje Foster. She was a graduate of Trenton High School.
On May 1, 1954 Joan married Leroy Shockey at the Liberty Chapel Christian Church near Trenton MO. He survives of the home.
For many years Joan and Leroy owned and operated the S Bar S Western Store in Chillicothe. She was also an excellent homemaker who especially enjoyed baking for her family and friends.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Chillicothe and had been a Sunday school teacher in her younger years.
Joan is survived by her husband Leroy of the home; four children, Mark Shockey and wife Sherry, Brenda Gatson and husband John, Linda McElwee and husband Larry, and Dan Shockey and wife Stephanie, all of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Pyrtle and husband David of Chula, MO and Joy foster of Jefferson City, MO, four nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials in honor of Joan Shockey may be made to the First Christian Church or the Blue Mound Cowboy Church and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe MO 64601. On line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com .
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
There will be a private burial.
A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home.
