Opal Mae (Teed) Coats, 94, of Chillicothe, MO passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Opal was born July 10, 1920 in Marion County Missouri, the daughter of William Henry and Flora Belle (Glenn) Teed.
On April 18, 1948 Opal married Charles William (Wally) Coats in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2008.
She graduated from Monroe City High School, Monroe City, MO and attended Central Missouri College in Warrensburg, MO and graduated from the Reasearch Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo. in 1944.
Opal served as a 2nd Lt. in the Army Nursing Corp from July 1945 to September 1946.
She worked as a nurse at the former Chillicothe Girls Training School from 1968 to 1980.
Opal was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include a son, John C. Coats and wife Norma of Portland, OR; daughter, Connie L. Greever and husband Chuck of Chillicothe; 3 grandchildren, Dimitri Coats and wife Melanie of Pasadena CA, Jesse Greever and wife Erin of Little Elm, TX, and Erin Fields and husband Anthony of Independence, MO; and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, an infant daughter and an infant granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe.
A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
