Olive Fern Long, 85, of Chillicothe MO passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Fern was born May 15, 1929 in Triplett MO, the daughter of Fred Lindsey Cook and Eva Adeline Davis Cook. She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and she also worked for several years as a laborer at Lambert Glove Factory and Boss Glove Factory.
On January 16, 1954 Fern married Norman (Tom) Long in Chillicothe. They lived in Chula MO for many years. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1999.
On December 20, 2003, she married Joseph Franklin Hobbs and they lived inChillicothe, He preceded her in death August 25, 2012.
Fern was a member of Chula Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling, playing the piano, playing cards and crocheting. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Sue Long of St. Joseph MO; granddaughter, Jill Swindler and fiancé Shawn Green of St. Joseph; sister, Elaine (Charles) Alexander of Topeka KS; nephew, Les Cook and companion Vickie Lingard of Meadville MO; 3 nieces, Beverly (Steve) Howe of Wheeling MO, Connie (Nelson) Burton of Chillicothe and Diane (David) Hicks of Chillicothe; several out of town nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands listed above and four siblings, Francis Crowe, Hugh Cook, Mary Buck and Fred Cook.
Memorials in honor of Fern Long may be made to the May Cemetery and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601. On line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at May Cemetery, Chula MO.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
