Mike Dean Walker

October 7, 1951 — May 7, 2026

Chillicothe

This is the life story of Michael Dean Walker. Mike was a true family man and a master mechanic who loved his classic muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles. If it didn’t rumble or roar, he was going to make it, with a big smile on his face! He loved spending time with his family, especially seeing his grandkids, Eric and Madison, who were the light of his life. Mike was an amazing husband, dad, brother, son, uncle, and the truest of friends to those he loved.

Mike’s story began on October 7, 1951, in Jamesport, MO. His parents, Jack and Sara “Betty” (Dixson) Brewer moved to Chillicothe, MO where Mike grew up with his younger sister Teresa (Brewer) Bradley and special sister Diana (Dixson) Havens. Mike could always be found outside working on his latest car project with his dad until the early morning hours. This was one of his biggest passions! Following graduation, Mike began his career as a mechanic for the Nisbeth-Seidel Chevrolet Dealership in Trenton and there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix or make run. After many years, Mike switched gears and began driving a semi for the Chillicothe sawmill, which took him all over the country and on many adventures. Mike met the love of his life, Joni Bethards, in 1974, and they were later married on April 18, 1976. In the year 1981, their daughter Melanie was born. A few years later in 1985, along came their son Michael. They enjoyed family get togethers, going to church, and riding in Mike’s favorite possession, the 1968 Camaro SS, known as “The Boss.” If you knew Mike, you knew that Camaro, as they were inseparable. Melanie and Michael have many fond memories of Mike burning rubber and throwing them back in their seats as they laughed and yelled for more!

In his later years, Mike continued driving semis for Willie Hibner and even in retirement, hauled grain and made short “day trips” around Missouri. Mike was easy-going, honest, friendly, and always willing to help someone in need no matter how busy he was himself. Mike was just a genuinely good man and if there was one word to describe him, it would be selfless. He enjoyed dinners and holidays with his family and loved when everyone was able to get together under one roof just to be in one another’s company. If the weather was nice, he would bring out his muscle cars and even offer his kids and grandchildren a chance to drive them. His grandkids were his world, they loved their Papa Mike, and he couldn’t say no to either of them. Mike was a devout Christian and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe.

On May 7, 2026, at the age of 74, Michael Dean Walker was called home to Heaven. Upon his arrival in Heaven, he will be greeted by his loved ones who are: father Jack Brewer, mother Sara “Betty” Brewer, sister Teresa and Randy Bradley, mother-in-law Marjorie Parks, fathers-in-law Ray Bethards and Don Parks, brother-in-law Steve Bethards, beloved dog Pepper, and countless friends and family.
