Michelle Anne Kirkland

     Michelle Anne Kirkland, 53 passed away on August 25, 2025, at Saint Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City. She was born on April 12, 1972, in Jacksonville, Illinois to her parents Donald Baskett and Jacqueline (Lorenz) Baskett.

     Michelle always knew how to keep busy. She was a collector of scary dolls, an avid book reader, a practitioner of martial arts, a clarinet player, and a compassionate RN nurse. Her taste in music was heavy metal. But her all-time favorite activity was spending time with her family. Especially when it came to enjoying horror movies.

     Michelle married Dale Kirkland on July 8th, 2000 at First Christian Church in Trenton, MO. As mentioned, she was a great nurse who cared for all other patients. Even after her passing, she continued to care for others and thanks to her donations, she was able to help five more lives.

     She is survived by her husband, Dale Kirkland. Her two sons, Bradley Ogle and Michael Joshua Dale Kirkland, a foster son, Jeremy Detts, her mother Jacqueline Baskett, her brother and sister, Jamie Baskett and Stacy Proctor, her mother-in-law, Ilene Kirkland, brother-in-law, Royce Proctor, and sister-in-law, Yinsheng Baskett. Along with several nieces and nephews.

     She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Baskett, her grandparents, James and Lila Lorenz and Hubert and Gladys Baskett. As well as her sister-in-law, Dana Kirkland

     A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on August 29, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held on August 30, 2025 at Cornerstone Church starting at 1pm.

     In leu of flowers people may leave a donation in honor of Michelle Kirkland to Heritage Funeral Home.
