Michael Edward Smith (Smitty), age 74 of Chillicothe, MO died Saturday January 13, 2024, at Livingston Manor, Chillicothe, MO. Mike was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on June 29, 1949, to Buel Francis Smith and Dorothy Louise (Ricketts) Smith. He married Kathleen Marie Hecker in 1980.

After high school Mike had several jobs, including working on the railroad in different parts of the country raising hell and sewing wild oats. He eventually became a journeyman pipefitter/plumber working over twenty years for Cunningham Plumbing out of Local 562 in St. Louis before returning to Chillicothe.

Mike is survived by a daughter Shandalynn (Shandi) Moore and husband Rodney, Chillicothe, MO. Sons Michael Smith, Chillicothe, MO and Ryan Smith and wife Moriah, Independence, MO; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, one sister, Sandra K. Jones, Brookfield, MO, half brother Clinton Shipp, St. Joseph, MO and (other brother) Nelson Shipp, Independence, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are special friends John Tauchen, Linda Quigley and Kate Edwards.

Preceding Mike in death were his parents, sister Patricia Lynn Bull, half brother Tony Gossett, brother in-law Randy Jones, and nephew Matthew Bull.
