It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Alan Holtzclaw, who entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 41.
Michael was born on May 18, 1985, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Larry Gene Holtzclaw and Tammy Sue (Benedict) Frion.
Michael was a handsome young man who will be remembered for his unforgettable smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering love for his family. He possessed a natural talent for music and had an extraordinary ability to play several instruments. His greatest passion was the guitar, which he taught himself to play without formal lessons. With an incredible ear for music, Michael could hear a song and quickly learn to play it. His music brought joy to family and friends, and no one was prouder of his remarkable gift than his mother.
Above all else, Michael cherished his family. He loved deeply and found his greatest happiness in the people he loved.
On March 29, 2026, while celebrating his mother's birthday, Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He asked the Lord to forgive his sins and come into his life. Thank you Father God for sending Jesus, your only Son, to save and redeem Michael. Though Michael's earthly journey has come to an end, his family rejoices in knowing that he has been set free from bondage and now lives with God forever.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Larry Gene Holtzclaw; his other mother, Jeanie (Culpepper) Miner; his brother, Timothy B. Holtzclaw; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Bernice Holtzclaw; and his maternal grandparents, Joe and Jody Crowley, and Jerry Rutledge.
He is lovingly survived by his fiancée, Taylor Harris; his mother, Tammy Frion; his five beloved children, Michael Holtzclaw, Marshall Holtzclaw, Lillian Holtzclaw, Valencia Holtzclaw, and Trinity Holtzclaw; his brothers, Dustin Holtzclaw, Joshua Holtzclaw, and Jacob (Heather) Holtzclaw; his grandmother, Cindi Rutledge; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers, acts of kindness, love, and support shown during this difficult time. Your compassion has been a source of strength and comfort.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
New Life Church 920 Green Street Chillicothe, Missouri 64601
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Michael's memory.
Though his time with us was far too short, Michael's love, music, laughter, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
