Larry Dale Ashford, 71, of Chillicothe, MO passed away on November 10, 2013 at his home in Chillicothe, under the care of his family and St. Luke’s Chillicothe Hospice.
Larry was born in Chillicothe on July 29, 1942 the son of Ivan John Ashford and Maurine Frances Agee. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1960.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1960 thru 1963, attained the rank of E-4.
Larry worked for Time Warner Cable and he last worked for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer where he had the nickname of “Lockdown Larry”.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe, the American Legion and Chapter 944 of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Chillicothe.
Larry is survived by a son, Jeff Ashford and wife, Lori of Chillicothe; daughter, Amy Ashford and companion Yael of Denver CO; three grandchildren, Alisha Marshall and husband, Scott of Coronado. CA, Devin Ashford of Chillicothe, and Caela Ashford of Chillicothe; a brother, Ivan Ashford and wife Barbara of Warsaw, MO; three sisters, Peggy Jenks of Georgia, Mary Moss and husband Charles, of Lawson, MO  and Linda Rogers and husband, Larry of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Larry Ashford may be made to the EAA chapter 944 Young Eagles Program and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial with full military honors will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday November 13, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
