Lana Kay (Dykes) Provolt peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven on June 5, 2025, at the age of 72. She passed away in her home in Wheeling, Missouri, surrounded by love.
Lana was born on October 31, 1952, in Trenton, Missouri, to Lavetta (Coon) and Loren Dykes. Raised as a small-town girl in Mercer, Missouri, she graduated from Mercer High School in 1970. After some reflection on her path in life, she proudly joined the United States Navy, where she served her country with honor. Her time in the service allowed her to travel and experience life beyond Missouri.
She married and was blessed with two children. Eventually, she and her family returned to Missouri, where she became a corrections officer in Chillicothe. After retiring, she embraced her role as a devoted stay-at-home wife to Eldon and a loving Grammy to her grandchildren.
Lana is survived by her husband of 28 years, Eldon Provolt; her brother Larry Dykes of Mercer, Missouri, her daughter, Lovey (Shawn) Minnis of Oak Grove, Missouri; her son, Loren (Mara) Woody of Columbia, Missouri; and her bonus children, Timmy (Shanna) Woody, Shari Riff, and Michael (Brenda) Woody, all of Arkansas. She was a proud grandmother to Chandler (Lucas) Schnelle, Cordelia (Tyler) Hunter, Alexys Sovanski, Arianna Woody, Clara (Jeremiah) Lopez, Gavin Woody and Zoey Roberts, as well as many beloved bonus grandchildren. The joy of her great-grandchildren — Ember Rose, Ames Mackenzie, Navy Lorene, Ruby Ann, and Jett Tyler — was truly the icing on the cake.
Lana loved reading, watching movies, spending time with family, and praising the Lord. Her love language was gift-giving — if she heard of a need or a wish, she would do everything she could to fulfill it. She loved deeply and was cherished by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lavetta Dykes; her father, Loren Dykes; her brother, Lawrence Dykes; and Baby Schnelle.
