With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Suzanne Older Reeter, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Suzanne departed this world surrounded by family on August 11, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her. Born on January 29, 1949, in Washington D.C. to Helen Davis and Joe Older, Suzanne was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, aunts, and brother, Kevin Davis.
On May 27, 1978, Suzanne married her childhood crush, Jim Reeter. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with unwavering love, cherished memories, laughter, and blessings of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Jennifer Statler (Mark) and Sarah Sewell (Quinn); stepdaughter, Tracy McClanahan Jones; grandchildren, Kelsie Ferguson (Ryan), Mason Palmer (Kaley), Caroline Williams (Ben), Andrew Statler, and Macie Statler; great-grandchildren, Ramsey Ferguson, Reese Ferguson, Rhett Ferguson, Cooper Palmer, and Baby Palmer, due soon; and siblings, Sally Jo Sharp (Terry), Eric Davis (Susan), and Jeffrey Davis (Donna).
Suzanne’s zest for life was exemplified by her insatiable wanderlust, as she reveled in exploring lands both near and far. An avid reader with a home full of books, she discovered more worlds in countless number of books over her lifetime.
After working many years at Churchill Truck Lines, Suzanne went to college in her 40’s earning her degree in nursing. She had a variety of nursing careers including the Chillicothe Correctional Center and a school nurse for Chillicothe Public Schools.
Above all,Suzanne was cherished by her family and friends at the consummate hostess, always welcoming loved ones into her home with warmth and generosity. She enjoyed evening walks with friends and cherished moments on her front porch when friends and family stopped in to visit.
A visitation followed by a graveside service honoring Suzanne’s life will be held on Saturday, August 17. Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington St., Chillicothe, MO 64601 from 10:00-12:00 with a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chillicothe, Missouri immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Chillicothe Animal Shelter in her memory.
Suzanne was the glue that held the family together and she will be deeply missed. Fortunately, her beautiful legacy will remain through her family and friends.
