Harold Nelson Dewey, 97, of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.
Harold, son of Delbert and Mabel (Meneely) Dewey, was born on October 31, 1927, in Meadville, Missouri. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he owned Home Improvement Service Inc. in Chillicothe, where he was well known as a jack-of-all-trades handyman.
In his earlier days, he enjoyed square dancing and social gatherings. Harold also enjoyed attending and working at auctions and spending quality time with his friends and family. Because he was both a handyman and an avid auction-goer, if you ever needed something—tools, parts, or odds and ends—Harold likely had one (or several) on hand and was always happy to help.
He is survived by his son, Lonnie Dewey and wife Karen of Taos, Missouri; grandson Craig Dewey and wife Katie of Parkville, Missouri; granddaughter Cara Skillman and husband Devin of Liberty, Missouri; great-granddaughters Avery Dewey, Adalynn Skillman, and Brynn Skillman; and great-grandson Logan Dewey. His parents; one sister, Enola Shore; two brothers, Gary Dewey and Caryol Dewey; and his special friend, Dorothy Skinner, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Friday, October 17, with the funeral service beginning at noon. A graveside service will follow at Meadville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meadville Cemetery.
