Estelle (Heavy) Donelson

February 1, 1928 — January 7, 2022

  Estelle “Heavy” Maxine Lightner Donelson, 93, of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, January 7, 2022 at her daughter’s home under the care of her family and St. Luke’s Hospice.

          Heavy was born February 1, 1928 in Chillicothe, Missouri to parents, James Edward and Blanche Arvilla Burkett Lightner. She attended Chillicothe High School. Heavy married Jackie “Jack” Franklin Donelson on March 16, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas.

          Heavy worked several years as a waitress but her main career was taking care of her family. She liked listening to old time country music, reading romance novels and watching the Hallmark Channel.

          Heavy is survived by her daughter, Diana (Edward) Boyd of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren, Christy (Kelly) Cunningham of Lewis, Iowa; Chad (Megan) Boyd, San Diego, California; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Abby) Cunningham of Tennessee; Jessica (Dan) Olsen, of Iowa; Naya Boyd of California; great-great-grandchildren, Abby, Lane, Jonah, and Gabe. Sisters, Helen “Annie” DeWitt of Nebraska; Judy (Richard) Wilson of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews. 

          She was proceeded in death by her parents James and Blanche Lightner; husband, Jack Donelson; siblings, Roy “Buck”, Betty “Peg”, Norma Jean “Deanie”, Delores “Poogie”, Dottie “Dot”, Bill, Jack, James, and Patricia.

          Memorial services will be Held at Heritage Funeral Home Saturday June 4, 2022 at 3:00p.m. visitation will be held from 2:00p.m. – 3:00p.m. burial at Wheeling Cemetery.

          Memorials in honor of Heavy can be made to the Childrens Mercy Hospital or Wheeling Cemetery and may be mailed Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.

          Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral Home.
