Elmer Eugene Barnett Jr. (J.R.), 55, of Breckenridge, MO passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, MO.
J.R. was born July 14, 1957 in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, the son of Rev. Elmer Eugene Barnett Sr. and Margaret Ann Booth Barnett.
He was a veteran who served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of PFC and served stateside from 1975 thru 1978.
In 1978 J.R. married Rosa McKay.
J.R .was an iron worker in the construction of sky scrapers until an accident forced him into early retirement.
He was a member of the Breckenridge Assembly of God Church and he enjoyed the great outdoors, especially landscaping and cutting firewood. He was also responsible for the rescue of many stray cats in the area.
J.R. is survived by his parents, Rev. Elmer Eugene Barnett Sr. and Margaret Ann Barnett of Breckenridge MO; his daughter, Jennifer Renee Mohr and husband Christopher of Temple TX; three grandchildren, Kayleigh, Caden and Grayson Mohr of Temple TX; a brother, Jeffrey Barnett of Salt Lake City, UT; sisters, Deborah Johnson and husband Russell of Breckenridge MO and Cynthia Greenwood of Independence MO; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe Mo.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Breckenridge MO.
There is no scheduled visitation.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 3, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday until time of service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
