Elmer Barnett

Elmer Eugene Barnett, 84, of Breckenridge, Missouri passed away July 2, 2020 at his home under the care of his family.

Elmer was born February 4, 1936 in Trenton, Missouri to parents William Harley and Anna May Norris Barnett. Elmer joined the Army in 1953 and retired in 1973 achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 serving two tours in Vietnam. He married Margaret Ann Booth February 4, 1955 in Trenton, Missouri. After Elmer retired from the army he worked construction in Texas and locally for Bill Mast doing construction work and he was the Pastor of Breckenridge Assembly of God Church for twenty years.

Elmer’s hobbies were working, cutting wood and wood working. He spent many hours studying the Bible. His family time was treasured and he loved his children and grandchildren.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Barnett of the home; children, Deborah Johnson of Breckenridge; Jeffrey Barnett of Sandy Utah; Cynthia Greenwood of Breckenridge; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Ethel Booth of Trenton; Naomi Scott of Spickard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Son, Elmer Barnett Jr., son in laws, Harold Greenwood; Russell Johnson; siblings, Paul Barnett; Dale Barnett; Glen Barnett; Ralph Barnett; Lester Barnett; Ruth Woods; Helen Young; Bessy Wilfond; and infant sister Betty Jane Barnett.

Memorials in honor of Elmer may be made to Rose Hill Cemetery and may be mailed to or left at Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be left at

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 Heritage Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8,2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial in Rose Hill cemetery, Breckenridge, MO.
