Doris Packham

Doris Lee Packham, 91, a resident of Chillicothe MO passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 under the care of her family and Hedrick Medical Center Hospice.
Doris was born the daughter of George Everett and Eula F. Coen BeVelle on April 14, 1921 in Chillicothe MO. She married Leonard Cowee in Kansas City MO in 1942. Five children were born of this marriage. He preceded her in death. She married Wilbur Packham on June 7, 1977 and he preceded her in death on December 3, 1987.
Doris lived in Kansas City and worked at Klines Department Store and Sears. She was a nanny for several years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chillicothe and was a volunteer for many organizations in Chillicothe such as Joy Toys, Grand River Historical Society Museum and in 2008 she received the Volunteer of the Year award at Hedrick Medical Center. In 2009 she received the Female Award for RSVP , having put in over 20,000 hours of service.  She helped collect money for the Oats Bus Matching Funds Project, she liked to visit nursing homes, and enjoyed baking and taking food to people and sent many cards.
Doris is survived by one son, Leonard Cowee, of Chillicothe; four daughters, Eula L Cary (Walter) of Green cove Springs FL, Doris Lee Hicks (Lester), Linda Thomas, and Barbara Sizemore  all of Chillicothe; a step-daughter, Sharon Ball of Leesville LA;  a sister, Ruth Schneiter and a brother, Donald BeVelle both of Chillicothe; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Norma Hansit; four brothers, Raymond, Bill, Gene and Stanley BeVelle; infant granddaughter, Linda Marie Roy; grandson William Roy; step daughter Joanne Kinniman and a great granddaughter Brandy Lynn Cook.
Memorials in honor of Doris Packham may be to the Grand River Multi-purpose Center or the Grand River Historical Society Museum and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012  at  First Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to   8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe MO.
