Dixie Jean Strait Olenhouse Kelly, age 89, resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away of Monday, October 24, 2016 at Morningside Center under the care of her family and St Luke’s Hospice Care. Dixie was born the daughter of Ola Bruce and Lizzie Catherine (Boone) Strait on April 3, 1927 in Springhill, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Olenhouse on May 8, 1945 in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1965. She was a homemaker, enjoyed raising birds, dancing, listening to music and spending time with her family. Dixie was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church. Survivors include two sons, Gary Olenhouse and wife Judy of Grain Valley, Missouri; Richard Olenhouse and wife JoAnn of Grandview, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon Rinehart and Rick of Chillicothe, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Stacy Upspronge and Thomas Olenhouse of California; Monica Olenhouse of Kansas City Missouri; Robin Hussey and husband Michael, Ryan Rinehart, Ben Rinehart and Dustin Rinehart and wife Chelsea all of Chillicothe, Missouri Richie England of California and Patricia Alas of Utah; four step grandchildren; Larry Trimble, Rebekah Mabrey, Justin Hutton and Starlett Hutton all of Kansas City; fifteen great grandchildren; Sarah Hussey, Derek Hussey, Quinn Roberts, Cortney Roberts, Randi Mammen, Aryan Rinehart, Thaddeus Rinehart, Jordan St. Clair, Keagan Rinehart, Kamryn Rinehart, Kami Haley, Kaylin Rinehart, Kirsten, Kadence and Ember; one niece, Joyce Jacobs; one nephew, Mel Jacobs; one great nephew, Zach Jacobs all of Chillicothe, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benjamin; two sisters, Verda Jacobs and Ruby Coon; one granddaughter, Shelly Rinehart. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Heritage Funeral Home at 10:00 am with visitation at 9:00 am prior to service. Memorials in honor of Dixie Kelly may be made to the Bird Sanctuary at Morningside Center and left at or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
