David Montgomery

     David Montgomery, 84, resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away on Monday, August 26th, 2024. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Born in Rochelle Illinois, was a resident of Hale, MO, and in retirement he traveled, after traveling he then settled in Chillicothe, MO. David was the youngest of five children to Harold and Mary Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. (Jim Montgomery, John Montgomery, Rosie Mowers). David is survived by sister Alice Rice.

     David is also survived by his wife, Sharon Montgomery, of 62 years, and five daughters: Karen Bejani (Renod Bejani), Cheryl Shields (Wes Shields), Linda Montgomery, Melissa Englert (Brian Englert), Bethany Keith (Travis Keith), 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and many step great grandchildren.

     David served in the army as an assistant chaplain. He was a farmer and most recently a school bus driver. He enjoyed being a member of the Hale Lions Club. David thoroughly enjoyed visiting with friends and always made a new friend everytime he stepped out of his front door or vehicle. David enjoyed RV travel around the states with his wife Sharon serving in mission work through the United Methodist NOMADS and meeting new people wherever they went. He was extremely talented in woodworking and could create functional items out of anything.

     David will be remembered by his family as a very active father and grandfather in his children/grandchildren's lives. He was always attending school functions and making sure to make a point to be present in their interests.
