Dale “Bruce” Cowan,74, of Braymer, MO went to Heaven, Monday, April 25, 2011 at his home in Braymer.
Bruce was born June 5, 1936 in Braymer, the son of Harold L. Cowan and Garnet Juanita Belshe Cowan.
He attended Braymer schools and was a graduate of Braymer High School in 1953.
In January of 1959 Bruce joined the United States Army Reserve Infantry and was attached to the Quarter Master Corp , fulfilling his obligation in January of 1965.
On August 22, 1986 married Barbara Ann McKerlie at the Community Church in Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
Bruce was a life long farmer in the Braymer area.
He was an accomplished steel guitar player and enjoyed entertaining many people, but farming and his family was the center of his life.
He was a member of the Dawn Baptist Church, Dawn, MO and the American Legion Post in Braymer.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; daughters, Connie Fuson of Braymer, Teresa Maberry of Braymer, Julie Gorham and husband, Phillip, of Braymer, Sherri Passigilia of Holt, MO, and Christal Villaseca and husband, Manuel, of Liberty, MO; a son, Chad Snider and wife, Karla of Lee’s Summit, MO; 12 grandchildren, John Anderson and wife, Shellie, Tanner Fuson, Heather McLean and husband, Andy, Cody Maberry, Addison, Gabriel, Jacob and Tucker Passigilia, Sarah Cowan, Lucas Villaseca, Brooke and Grant Snider; 5 great grandchildren; sister Shirley Ott of Weatherby, MO; brother Jerry Cowan of Chillicothe, MO; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Phillip Cowan; an infant daughter, Susan Cowan; grand son Austin Anderson; granddaughter Allison Passigilia; son-in-law, Tony Passigilia; sister-in-law, Margaret Cowan; 2 brothers-inlaw, Carl Adams and Maynard Ott.
Memorials in honor of Bruce Cowan may be made to the 1st Responders of Braymer or the Braymer School Music Department and left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO. On-line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com .
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, MO
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
