Claude "Bud" Sylvester Jones Jr.

Claude “Bud” Sylvester Jones Jr., 86, of Chillicothe, Missouri passed away July 31, 2022 at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Bud was born in Chillicothe, Missouri June 28, 1936 to parents Claude Sylvester Jones Sr. and Vesta Cleo (Collier) Jones. He graduated from Chillicothe High School and retired from the United States Postal Service after working for over 25 years as a Postal Carrier. On February 3, 1957 he married the love of his life Janet Marie Darr at the Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Bud had many hobbies throughout his life including hunting, fishing, wood working and bowling. People that knew Bud would say he was an avid conversationalist, he was ready to talk to anyone he would see. He enjoyed the Board Meeting at Hy-Vee. Bud was very proud of his home town Chillicothe, often giving tours to show the updates as they happened.

After retirement Bud and Janet wintered at Posada Del Sol located in Harlingen, Texas. Meeting many new friends that became family over the years.

Bud is survived by his wife, Janet Jones; children, Angelia Goza and husband Rick of The Woodlands, Texas; Ross Jones and wife Julie of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren, Nicole Goza; Austin Jones and wife Tara; Vanessa Lippelman and husband Matt; great-grandchildren, Emersyn Jones; Mabel Jones and one expected to be born any day; sisters, Gladys Johnston of Breckenridge, Missouri; Mildred “Ruby-Rosie” Litton of Lock Springs, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Vesta Jones; siblings, Dorothy Dale; Lloyd Jones; Helen Neis; Evelyn “Jack” Troeger.

            Memorials in honor of Bud may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and mail should be mailed to or left at Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601. Online condolences may be made at www.heritage-becausewecare.com 

            Visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 6:30p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri.

            Funeral services will be held Friday August 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Highview Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Missouri.

            Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe.
