Betty June Murphy

Betty June Murphy, 81, of Chillicothe, Missouri, went to her eternal home on November 18, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Betty was born on June 2, 1944 in Trenton, Missouri, the youngest of thirteen children, to parents Walter and Lottie (Ishamael) Searcy. She was a 1962 graduate of Meadville High School, before she enrolled at the Chillicothe Beauty Academy. She worked for several years at the Beauty Maid Salon, and Donna’s Beauty Shop. Betty enjoyed her profession as a beautician.

Betty was survived by her children: Cindy Singer of Chillicothe, Missouri, Tim (Paula) Murphy of Kirksville, Missouri; grandchildren: Russell (Kaelynn) Murphy of Liberty, Missouri, Shawn (Becca) O’Brien of Trenton, Missouri, Krista (Brent) Romesburg of Trenton, Missouri; siblings: Jim (Roberta) Searcy of Princeton, Missouri, Norma Hobbs of Chillicothe, Missouri, sister-in-law Lila Searcy of Laredo, Missouri; great-grandchildren: Cooper O’Brien, Millie O’Brien, Hayden Romesburg, Weston Romesburg, Racelyn Romesburg, Kasyn Murphy, Ryker Murphy, and Hudson Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, five brothers, and her son-in-law Ron Singer.

Betty enjoyed spending quality time with her family, piecing together picture puzzles, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, NASCAR, RFD-TV, and loved to watch Gunsmoke.

Visitation for Betty will be Saturday, December 6, 2025 and will start at 12:30 PM with service to follow at 1:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri.

Memorials in honor of Betty June Murphy may be made out to Haseville Cemetery.

Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
