Barb (Barbara) Kay Curtis Williams, age 76, of Lock Springs, MO went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at her home with her family by her side. Barb was born and raised in Gallatin, MO. She was born on September 25, 1949 to C. D. Monroe Curtis and Leona Anna Clausen Curtis.
On July 14, 1967, Barb married the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Lynn Williams in Wichita Falls, TX. Tom and Barb made their home in Lock Springs, MO for the last 51 years.
Barb is survived by her husband Tom Williams of Lock Springs, MO; her two daughters Brenda Pliley and husband Bart of Jamesport, MO and Terri Williams of Kansas City, MO; her four grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as Nan, include Saxton Pliley and wife RyAnn, Sophie Lewis and husband Jacob, Spencer Pliley, and Shealyn Pliley; her great-granddaughter Paisley Pliley; her brother Lee Curtis and wife Cindy of Tacoma, WA; and her sister Beverly Cone of Gallatin, MO. Barb is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barb was Postmaster of the Lock Springs, MO post office for 22 years. Upon retirement from the post office, she ascertained multiple certifications to teach physical fitness classes, including Tai Chi, Silver Sneakers, Chair Yoga, and many others. She taught physical fitness classes at the Chillicothe YMCA and Chillicothe Senior Center. She loved teaching classes and providing guidance to those that attended her classes, which she affectionately referred to as “her people.”
Barb loved her family and friends immeasurably. She was loved by her grandchildren and great grandchild and will be dearly missed. She lived life on her own terms, was a fierce fighter and protector, and will remain “forever 18.”
Barb enjoyed being outside, gardening, and especially enjoyed planting her flowers. She loved her pets, enjoyed watching wildlife and animals of all sorts, and looked forward to the hummingbirds returning every year. She was an avid concert enthusiast and went on many “adventures.”
Barb loved the Lord and attended the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in honor of Barb Williams be made to The University of Kansas Cancer Center, specifically Cancer Research (www.kuendowment.org/give) or to the Green Hills Animal Shelter (https://www.greenhillsanimalshelter.org). A Celebration of Life will be held at Sego Farms, 12331 Liv 420 Chillicothe, MO 64601 on May 31, 2026 at 3:00pm.
