Ann Martens

Ann Neuenschwander Martens, of Chillicothe, MO passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at her home in Chillicothe, under the care of her family and Hedrick Hospice.
Ann Mary Neuenschwander was born March 25, 1941 in Boonville, MO to Roxie (Hayes) and Harry Neuenschwander.
She graduated from Garden City, MO High School, Missouri Valley College, Marshall, MO and received her Masters Degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.
Ann married her husband of 43 years, Edward C. Martens,  December 27, 1967 in Garden City, MO at the Garden City Methodist Church. He survives of the home.
Ann taught high school English 1 year in Butler, MO and 5 years at Chillicothe High School as a Sophomore English teacher. She retired from the Braymer, MO schools after 19 years as High School Guidance Counselor.
Ann was a member of the Chillicothe United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the original steering committee of the Chillicothe area Habitat for Humanity. Ann was a leader of both Boy and Girl Scouts for a number of years. She was a member of Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Missouri State Teachers Association and Delta Zeta Sorority.
Survivors include her husband Ed; three children and their spouses, Hayes Martens (Kelly) of Chillicothe, Emily Bowden (David) of Harriman, TN, Sarah Cavanah (Brad) of Chillicothe; one sister, Nancy Kristiansen (Per) of Alpharetta, GA; three grandchildren, Hannah Bowden, Macy & Lauren Cavanah.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Operation Help and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, MO 64601. On-line condolences may be left at www.heritage-becausewecare.com .
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Chillicothe United Methodist Church.
Burial will be at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home, Chillicothe, MO.
