Alvesa "Sodie" Brown

     Alvesa “Sodie” Brown, 94 of Chillicothe MO passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026 in Chillicothe, MO.

     Sodie as her friends & family called her was a very dear friend and a special momma.

     Always with a smile and a twinkle in her eye – would say love you and see you soon.

     She worked for Boss Glove factory until it closed.

     Her & her dear husband, Howard (but Junior is what she called him) lived in Chula until his passing in December 2011 she decided to move to Chillicothe to be closer to her daughter Catherine.

     Sodie always made friends wherever she went. Enjoyed visitors & getting caught up on their lives and sharing what she had been up to.

     She cherished her time spent with her daughter Cathy, whether it be their car rides or shopping trips, just being together meant so much to her the most….

     Sodie enjoyed going out to local places to eat as she would see an old friend to catch up with but when she was not able to walk far anymore, Cathy would bring home meals from their favorite places and her most requested was Shrimp from Hicks Hometown, which the employees made sure she had a lot to enjoy…

     Sodie is survived by her daughter Catherine Ploof of Chillicothe, Son Frank of Chillicothe, daughter Vannesa of Oregon, son Mike of California and her grandchildren.

     The arrangements are with Heritage Funeral Home, there will be a graveside only at May Cemetery, Chula, MO on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11:00 am.
